Having completed three classes in Genesis the next two course book Exodus & Numbers and Leviticus & Deuteronomy will be offered in four separate classes thus following the Biblical order as found in the first five books of the Bible known as the 5 books of Moses or the Pentateuch.
So, between the two books the order of the four classes will be Exodus followed by Leviticus then Numbers and lastly Deuteronomy.
Exodus teaches us the historical period of Israels history of God redeeming His chosen people beginning with God choosing Moses to the giving of His ten commandments through to His people preparing to enter the Promised Land
//This Book, EXODUS & NUMBERS is part of the John MacArthur Bible Studies series
This class in Exodus is currently in progress and will end November 29, 2022
This Course Book will only look at Leviticus and be followed by Numbers.
The four classes in this series of studies in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy trace God's program of redemption of a sinful people as He Teaches them that He is absolutely holy God and that He will have a holy people that He will dwell among in a land He has chosen for His name to dwell. These initial Bible Books are the key to understanding God's actions through to the end of the Old Testament as He shows His uncompromising holiness as well as what is involved in redeeming a sinful, spiritually dead people and making them fit to live and dwell in His holy presence.
Further, the Old Testament record of His activity is the key to understanding the New Testament and the necessity of a new birth and the destination of His program of redemption. All in preparation to bringing forth His promised Kingdom on the throne of David in Israel in Jerusalem when He returns at the end of Daniel's 70th prophetic week Revelation 6-20
There is no definite start date set for this class, but it will follow the Exodus class and is proposed to start in December 2022 or early January 2023
Deuteronomy is the fifth and final book for this series on the Pentateuch.
Deuteronomy is not a new or different law of Moses but rather it is the record of Moses' words of explanation concerning the Law.
The slavery of Israel in Egypt was a set time by God in bringing the physical descendants of Abraham according to the promise of God to him.
Israel was conditioned by God through this slavery to break their identity from the Nations illustrating His absolute uniqueness as the only God that exists as He judged the gods of Egypt showing that they were mere the creations of godless minds
The process of God bringing His chosen people into the land He had promised the patriarchs and the land He chose for His name to dwell was a transforming of His people into acceptable worshippers. The four hundred years of captivity also served as a time for the iniquity of the Amorite to be fulfilled before He purged them from His chosen land.
Gods stern warning throughout Israels sojourn across the wilderness was filled with instructions of not being conformed to the religious systems of those He was about to destroy for their worship of false Gods
The relevance of this history of Israel serves as a teaching example to the Church as the New Testament Christian is called a sojourner who passes through a similar wilderness in this life needing to learn the truths concerning the God with whom we have to do with
This class is tentatively set for the Summer 2023 session and will be followed by the Book of Hebrews
As a further note, much the same as the Old Testament Israelite faced his potential entrance into the promised land so also the New Testament believer faces the Coming Earthly Kingdom of Christ at His imminent anytime return
The New Testament Book of Hebrews is the follow up study to the first five books of the Bible Genesis through Deuteronomy.
This book explains the movement of God's redemptive program by an apologetic to Hebrews who were struggling to understand who Christ is and how He could possibly be the promised messiah who will fulfill all the promises of God and the imperative of the short time one has to gather his understanding
This is a 12-week New Testament course in the MacArthur Bible Study Series
The New Testament Book of John is the follow up study to the first five books of the Bible Genesis through Deuteronomy.
This study of John introduces the Inductive Bbile study method as described in the registration form for John.
This class primarily describes the deity of Jesus the Christ of God who is revealed as the "I AM" of the Exodus (John 8:58).
This class runs in conjunction with Genesis through Deuteroomy which illustrate Gods program of redeeming sinners and why there is a need for the spiritually dead to be born of the Spirit (John 3)
